Gardenipedia is mainly written by me, Fernando Montalvo.  I am a landscape designer based out of Daytona Beach, Florida. and operate my own landscape design and project management/consulting firm (Design Studio Montalvo Burke LLC). I have worked in the wonderful world of gardening for 10 years, doing hundreds of landscapes in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.  It was always my dream to share with others the many aspects of landscaping: design, planting, upkeep, and just general garden-talk.  Gardenipedia is my online resource where this information can be found.  While this project will take many years, I hope you can find some useful information on the already developed sections.  At Gardenipedia, we welcome all topics and hope to have some great discussions.

What is Gardenipedia?

Gardenipedia is a resource for gardening how-tos and landscaping ideas.  The site features detailed information on how to carry out garden tasks, ideas for landscape designs, plant information, and much more.  My goal is to show you the science behind why things happen in the landscape and then show you how best to deal with each situation.  I’ll offer multiple solution because no two gardens are the same.  Most importantly, Gardenipedia isn’t written for those who can spend hours fixing up their garden.  In today’s world, time is short and I hope to show you the most time efficient way to solve landscape problems.

Yes, Gardenipedia is still under construction and posts are scarce.  Expect more soon.  If it seems its been a while since I’ve posted an article, don’t despair… the latest post is being worked on and will be online soon enough.

Gardening, Aviation, and Cancer…huh? – other blogs.

While I post about gardening here in Gardenipedia, I spend most of my blogging day in the world of aviation.  My primary degree is in Aeronautical Science and I spent a few years in the aviation field.  I write about my experiences there and up to date aviation news at Velozia Air (www.velozia.com).

In 2007, I was diagnosed with cancer and, having come out the other end of the ordeal on the winning team, I decided to write about my experiences and my opinions on cancer in general at Helpoon.com.  I noticed early on in my treatment that there wasn’t much information available on my particular cancer, especially from the patient’s point of view.  I hope with Helpoon, I am able to help others who seek this information.
